When a Hearing Aid Isn’t Enough

Hearing aids are spectacular devices.  They allow your hearing health care provider to adjust different frequencies to bring your hearing levels up for better hearing.  They have noise reduction technology that calms down the background noise and compression settings that diminish loud noises. 

But what happens when hearing aids simply are not enough.  Certain hearing losses differ greatly from others.  People can often times a diminished hearing capacity but also a word recognition issue as well.  When word recognition is poor, even a hearing aid cannot bring it back to its full capacity.  Sometimes even with the proper amount of word recognition, hearing can be hard in certain areas because of high ceilings, hard floors, or hard walls that create a reverberation making all sounds distorted.  Even the distance that a television sits away from us in certain rooms can cause issues with us hearing what is said as…
